How to Fill Out a PDF Form (Without Printing It)

Getting a PDF form by email and being told to print, fill, scan, and send it back is a small daily annoyance. If the form has interactive fields, you can skip all of that and fill out the PDF form on screen.

There are two kinds of forms. Interactive forms (AcroForm) have real fields — text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns — that you can click and type into. Flat forms are just lines printed on the page with no fields; for those, you add text on top instead.

To fill out a PDF form with PdfWill: open the Fill PDF Forms tool and upload your file. If it has fields, they appear as inputs you can complete, then download the filled file. You can also flatten the form so your answers become permanent and non-editable.

If your document is a flat form with no interactive fields, use the edit and annotate tool to type your answers onto the page. To finish, the sign PDF tool adds your signature.
